App Smackdown and Promoting Your Personal Brand

In this week’s class, we will be doing a project called “App Smackdown”. This involves us choosing an app that relates to our major, and creating a video presentation as well as a full review of the app we chose. For this project, I chose an app called PhysiApp . PhysiApp allows for users to have access to clinical exercises right at their fingertips! This app has crystal clear and professionally narrated videos to show you how to perform exercises correctly, gives you reminders, and even tracks your progress and feedback in real time. Overall, I find this app useful for anybody who is experiencing pain throughout their body but is not able to get treated at a doctor or practitioner. PhysiApp allows for treatment of the patient via video exercises, all through this free app. In last week’s class, Professor Calderwood introduced us to Paper.li , which can be used to add much value to someone’s personal brand as well as promote influencers. Paper.li was one of the early content curation ...

What Does Google Have to Offer?

The second week of class saw an introduction to Google software such as Google Tours , as well as a better overview of how to properly post a good blog and what to talk about. I was interested to learn more about how to post hashtags to Twitter in order for more people to see your account, as well as what to include in blogs in order to create more traffic to your page. We created a short sample of a Google Tour of our lives, including where we grew up, where we went to high school, and where we live now. This was a good way to get a feel for how to put information out to the public in various different ways. Google offers many other tools for connecting with others as well, such as Google Hangouts.  Google Hangouts offers a range from one on one connections to huge virtual meetings, welcoming many people to sit down and take the opportunity to learn something new. From connecting with your community, to creating video interviews as content, coaching, critiquing, hosting meetings, ...

Welcome to My Blog!

Hello everyone! My name is Jake Cahill. I am currently a sophomore studying Biology at Stockton University with a concentration in Physical Therapy. I believe I am a hardworking, dedicated student with a passion for the science field, especially fitness and the body. I am interested in learning more about Physical Therapy with my studies here at Stockton and I am eager to learn how this class can help me get there. For the past few summers I spent my time working at Wawa  in multiple locations, working an average of 30 hours throughout the week. Although this has nothing to do with my major, Wawa was a good way to keep myself on track with a busy schedule. I was able to manage my time at work with my off time to have a good balance going into the school year for my studies.  I look forward to learning how to present myself online through social media in a better manner through this class. I am excited to learn how to optimize the use of my portfolio for jobs when I get out of ...

Introduction to PLN

In our first class session, we began to learn about our Learning Management System, as well as how to develop a Personal Learning Network (PLN) and blogging as a whole. We were introduced to Microsoft Teams, and the advantages that this software can provide to the education of the class. Professor Calderwood described the various learning benefits that are provided through social media. We developed our own PLN’s for class using Twitter. Many people use PLN’s without even knowing it, for there are so many platforms for people to express anything they want to mass amounts of people. People enjoy scrolling through Twitter and Instagram throughout their daily lives, but what most people don’t know is that they are actually learning so much from that platform. Platforms like Twitter allow you to connect with educators around the world and jump into conversations in order to teach and learn at the same time. Connecting with networks has levels to it, from those who observe and watch without...
